The Aminth Energy interconnector project is aimed to provide a range of economic and environemental benefits. Read more about them here.
Aminth Energy represents a [GBP 2.3 billion] investment that will create significant economic benefits in both countries through a variety of supply chain and commercial opportunities. Building the project will create hundreds of jobs during the multiyear development and construction phases and enable British and Danish workers to develop skills and expertise in a growing global industry. Additional jobs will be created once Aminth Energy becomes operational.
By increasing choice and competition in the British and Danish electricity markets, Aminth Energy can help stabilize and even lower prices for consumers and businesses.
By facilitating the integration of renewables, Aminth Energy will produce a net reduction in carbon emissions of 5 megatonnes between 2032-2056. That’s equivalent to taking 100,000 cars off the road every year for 25 years!
Aminth Energy will directly link the British and Danish grids, carrying enough electricity to power up to 1.5 million homes and increasing the resiliency and security of the electricity supply.
Interconnectors use proven, reliable technology and play a key role in making electrical grids more flexible and efficient as the needs of consumers, businesses, and industry change and evolve.
Aminth Energy is designed with the future energy needs of British and Danish consumers, businesses and industry in mind. It is anticipated that the project will be completed in 2032.
